Similar to how the ABCs are the foundation of reading and writing, fundamental movement skills are the foundation of physical literacy and active living.

Physical literacy is not something that people ‘achieve’ and then maintain - it is a journey that each person takes throughout their lifetime. Each day, as life transitions and progresses, people face new challenges to stay active daily, maintain a healthy body and mind, and feel confident and competent to participate in physical activity.

Our program is designed to develop strength, balance, coordination and flexibility in the body while kids discover various elements of yoga in a positive and playful setting. YOGAPL3Y contributes to the healthy development of children through physical activity as well as through mindfulness practices in a non-competitive environment that is inclusive of all individuals.

YOGAPL3Y poses and activities are designed first and foremost to develop a range of fundamental movement skills, including balancing, twisting, jumping, and more. We use yoga to help build strength, flexibility & balance.

WE FOSTER POSITIVE MENTAL HEALTH

There are only 3 Rules of PLAY to follow in our programs: Be Positive. Be Fun. Be Yourself! We encourage children to become the very best versions of their unique selves. We explore our feelings and emotions in a mindful way and develop skills to help cope with the stresses of life.

WE FOCUS ON SUCCESS

We use simple movements to develop fundamental movement skills and ensure that everyBODY experiences the motivation to move in different ways and more often! Our class plans are designed to provide kids with challenges and successes every class.

We support social emotional learning & Self-Regulation

Our instructors teach children how to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships and make responsible decisions.

we teach mindfulness strategies, attention & focus

Every YOGAPL3Y class includes periods of stillness and mindfulness activities that teach children how to bring their attention to their own experiences, without judgement or the need to change anything. We practice using our breath to help us focus and pay attention to the present moment.

WE HELP create connection

Our innovative and interACTIVE class style fosters a sense of community and fosters positive social interaction in a non-intimidating setting. We focus on connection with ourselves, our peers and our world.
